wow.

January 4, 2010

Embarassingly enough…it has been so long since we posted anything on this blog that I forgot how to log in to do so! Fortunately…Geri and I have been blessed…we have been busy leading fun, frantic lives these last few months! We have photographed amazing weddings, an actual engagement, family sessions and events that we need to post and share with you guys! Geri is off to a photographer’s event tomorrow called SPA at the Hotel Del and I can not wait to see what she brings back for us to use this next year. I love the goodies Geri always seems to find for us!

I spoke with Geri tonight and we were both in the midst of getting our children ready to go back to school after Christmas break…we both realize how lucky we are that our children go to school every day so we can focus on renewing our energy towards our business. We are really excited for things to come.

I am not going to tell you one of my New Year’s Resolutions was to get totally updated on this blog but I am going to at least attempt to share at least one picture from all of the fabulous sessions we photographed these past few months.

I was privileged enough to be chosen by my three wonderful sisters to photograph their children for their Christmas cards and presents this year. It was a true delight to see how gorgeous my nephews and nieces have grown up to be (yes…I can include my stunning daughter Cassi in this also!). We had a great time at Griffin Park photographing and everyone was thrilled with how the session turned out.

Approximately six years ago, we attempted the same session and my niece MacKenzie, who was quite the precocious one, would not cooperate for the session. The family portrait that has hung in my Mom and Dad’s living room for the last 6 years is a 16×20 image with all family members struggling to smile as we waited for MacKenzie to cooperate. She never did and the family portrait was taken with just the back of MacKenzie’s head. I have to admit that it is probably the most cherished family portrait we have. I share that story with sessions because, as unperfect as that portrait is hanging on my Mom’s wall…it is a family moment in our history. My family is imperfect and the portrait captured that for us that day!

We recreated the portrait this time…tongue in cheek…since it is such a family heirloom for us.

Enjoy!

Cassi & Alexis turn 11…

October 7, 2009

My daughter Cassi will be turning eleven on friday…I hardly remember my life “B.C.” (before Cassi). I know I had a lot more free time on my hands but I don’t remember cherishing the moments as much as I do now.

Cassi and I met friends up at Petunias and Pomegranates in Alpine to see how the new owner had changed the gardens and while we were there we took advantage of the gorgeous grounds and pumpkin patch they have there. As a photographer it is always a fabulous find to go to undiscovered picturesque places for portrait sessions. Petunias and Pomegranates was no exception! We were able to wander the grounds and enjoy the setting…all while photographing our daughters. The wonderful ladies working there encouraged us to let the children run around and play which is a refreshing change from other places we have been to!

Here are a couple of the pictures I took of Cassi (and her friend Lexi) today. Lexi and Cassi have been friends since birth….actually before birth. Lexi’s Mom Lori and I told each other on the same phone conversation that we were pregnant. We went through our entire pregnancies together and had our daughters the same week (Lexi on Monday and Cassi on friday!). These poor girls have been tortured together since they were 2 months old and we laid them in the snow next to each other for a “picture opportunity”!

They have both turned into beautiful young girls and I can only hope they stay friends for a lifetime! Happy Birthday girls!
Enjoy!

Laughter

October 2, 2009

Last night, I (Donna) had the pleasure of photographing the Honselaar hotties…the intent was to photograph the youngest for her birthday pics and the older two in their dance costumes. As a photographer, I believe that I have the responsibility to not only capture smiling faces but also to catch those single moments in time that you can never get back. Every once in a while I capture a moment that says what words can’t…the pleasure that Cindy gets raising three gorgeous, sweet little girls. I have photographed Cindy and family for almost 10 years and watched her girls grow from tiny infants into the sweet things they are today!

This was an impromptu shot of Cindy and Addison I came across while editing. I think it is my favorite image ever of Cindy! Thank you Cindy for trusting me to capture your daughters as they get older and more beautiful every year!

Enjoy!

Chocolate Cake breaks

July 1, 2009
So…Geri and I met for our weekly work meeting yesterday and it is the first time since our children have been home for summer break. Our fabulous bartender/tech guy/father/babysitter was not available to help out yesterday because he was out having fun doing something called work…so we had to fend for ourselves. Our work day involved scaling high buildings to fetch balloons, three chocolate cake breaks, an impromptu photo session, numerous diaper changes, and some snooping  on the computer (& there was just one alcoholic drink that we split!)…

Believe it or not…we got a lot done! Our associates kept themselves busy just long enough that we were able to create to-do lists that will allow us to continue working on business related things early in the morning or late at night…whenever we find the time! I have to say everyone should look into a job that you can stop and have three cake breaks whenever the need arises….can you imagine the happiness factor?

Here are a few images from our day!

Enjoy!

I love this image of these two!

There are so many images from Angie’s wedding that I would love to share with you but what struck me as the most memorable part of the day was their children.  The children were such a part of Angie and Tom’s wedding ceremony and day that anyone there would tell you it wasn’t a blending of 2 souls but a mixture of 6 people coming together to create a new family unit. Here are just a few images that were taken prior to the wedding ceremony. I will post more in the coming days! Here are a couple of the boys and one of Angie as a sneak peek!

Enjoy!
