wow.

January 4, 2010

Embarassingly enough…it has been so long since we posted anything on this blog that I forgot how to log in to do so! Fortunately…Geri and I have been blessed…we have been busy leading fun, frantic lives these last few months! We have photographed amazing weddings, an actual engagement, family sessions and events that we need to post and share with you guys! Geri is off to a photographer’s event tomorrow called SPA at the Hotel Del and I can not wait to see what she brings back for us to use this next year. I love the goodies Geri always seems to find for us!

I spoke with Geri tonight and we were both in the midst of getting our children ready to go back to school after Christmas break…we both realize how lucky we are that our children go to school every day so we can focus on renewing our energy towards our business. We are really excited for things to come.

I am not going to tell you one of my New Year’s Resolutions was to get totally updated on this blog but I am going to at least attempt to share at least one picture from all of the fabulous sessions we photographed these past few months.

I was privileged enough to be chosen by my three wonderful sisters to photograph their children for their Christmas cards and presents this year. It was a true delight to see how gorgeous my nephews and nieces have grown up to be (yes…I can include my stunning daughter Cassi in this also!). We had a great time at Griffin Park photographing and everyone was thrilled with how the session turned out.

Approximately six years ago, we attempted the same session and my niece MacKenzie, who was quite the precocious one, would not cooperate for the session. The family portrait that has hung in my Mom and Dad’s living room for the last 6 years is a 16×20 image with all family members struggling to smile as we waited for MacKenzie to cooperate. She never did and the family portrait was taken with just the back of MacKenzie’s head. I have to admit that it is probably the most cherished family portrait we have. I share that story with sessions because, as unperfect as that portrait is hanging on my Mom’s wall…it is a family moment in our history. My family is imperfect and the portrait captured that for us that day!

We recreated the portrait this time…tongue in cheek…since it is such a family heirloom for us.

Enjoy!

I have always been told by my parents to surround myself with good people in my life. I will admit to making some choices over the years that might not have been as healthy for me. I have recently come to the realization that time spent with people who aren’t “good people” is a waste of my time.

What prompts those words in this post? Geri and I seem to have been truly blessed by all of the people we have encountered since starting Reminisce. Every single one of my experiences photographing with Geri has been a laugh out loud, fun time. We always go with the intention of getting in and out of our sessions and it NEVER happens. Anyone who has been photographed by us can attest to the fact we end up in endless conversations with our subjects, learning about their lives and truly making them a part of our business. I see us “reminiscing” with our customers years from now as we continue to photograph all of the events in life that are worth reminiscing about.

I love that Geri and I have been able to combine our lives on this blog and share it with, not only our family, but all of the friends we make each day doing what we love. On Monday, Geri and I photographed the Davis family at Griffin Park. {See the post prior to this one!} We absolutely had a blast! The boys and I talked baseball, we shared stories about the unusual times we capture on a camera, and we became friends. Geri has already posted those amazing pictures on here which made me realize I was remiss in not sharing Sandi and her family’s amazing session!

Sandi just glows. We were blessed to be chosen to photograph Sandi and her family. You can tell how much this family loves each other. Constant hugs and kisses all around. There was tons of laughter and fun during our session at the beach. The sun had completely gone down by the time we left the beach that night. Once again we shared stories, laughed and made new friends.

We are blessed.

Enjoy!

Markie and her mother Joyce mean a whole lot to me. They first came to me as a customer when I was getting out from working for other photographers and studios, and growing Reminisce. They’ve even given the biggest complement of all, by referring others to us. Wahoo!

Each time I’ve had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Miss Markie, their needs have been pretty specific… vertical head and shoulder business style pose, with her hat on. Well finally, I got the chance to take some different style photos of this young woman who is just as beautiful on the inside as the outside.

Isn’t She Lovely?

Well, the move wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. Okay, that’s because I got some really great help from Danella Miller (http://www.danellamillerphotography.com/blog/). I think the blog is lovely, but so is Danella. I hope you all enjoy it too.

I know I  will be looking forward to adding posts here and keeping you all updated on everything that’s going on with the family and our work. Stay tuned.
