And Away They Go…

August 19, 2009

How great is this? It’s Monday afternoon in beautiful Southern California, and we are heading out to photograph another fun engagement session. Only this time, we get the exhilarating backdrop of the Del Mar Race Track to begin our session at. Even though there was no racing going on that day, there was this intense energy in the air. Clearly, the source of that energy was from these dynamic people. Our thanks to this excellent couple for our excellent day.

Vegas, Baby, Vegas

August 13, 2009

Anyone who knows me, {Donna} knows how much I love a good trip to Vegas! There is so much excitement and fun to be had there! Geri is there for the next two nights with her honey and I just got back last week. We have had so many great things going on for us with Reminisce that we both have found reasons to celebrate! We have been so blessed with great families and friends and support from everyone. I know I can speak for Geri when I say that the only direction we see going is up!

Vegas is preparing us for those nights in our near future where we wake up with the sun because there is so much work to be done!

Here’s a picture or two from last week in my second favorite city!!!

Geri and I had the pleasure of visiting The Ruby Kitchen in Hillcrest on friday night after photographing Emily and Jared’s wedding. A former coworker of ours (Brittni Cute) was having their grand opening of their restaurant that night and we wanted to be a part of the fanfare. We were not disappointed! Our waiter Ryan had us in stitches the entire time. My sides hurt from laughing the whole time we were there. He and Brittni made us feel right at home in the restaurant and I am sure it is the first of many visits for us there!

They are open from 4pm until 4am…hoping to service the barhoppers and partyers who are looking for something other than late night taco food. The atmosphere was casual, the wine was yummy and the food (a monte cristo sandwich, fries and a salad) was fabulous! They are located at 1271 University Ave San Diego, CA, 92103 {Phone:(619) 299-7372}.

Stop by some night and ask Ryan about his jewelry making business and tell Brittni we said hello!!!

Meet Mr. & Mrs. Tucker

August 10, 2009

Geri and I were privileged to photograph another amazing couple this weekend. He is a firefighter/medic and she is a school teacher who have known each other since high school. It is clear they were destined to be together. She never stopped smiling all day and he had a grin on his face probably more than her. They were married at Humphrey’s Half Moon Inn and the reception was held at the Bali Hai. Both places were lush with green landscape that made photographing them an absolute dream!
There was a genuine feeling of love and affection from both sides of the family.
Emily’s sister Hannah (her MOH) went above and beyond with helping Emily, creating a slideshow and giving a sweet toast at the reception.
Every detail down to the smallest items were well coordinated and made for a flawless day!
The groomsmen were absolutely hysterical and I don’t think Geri and I have ever laughed so hard photographing a groom and his groomsmen.
I am posting a “few” sneak peeks of their day!
Enjoy!

This Perp has Priors

August 8, 2009

For those of you who followed Geri’s original blog, you may have seen the post about Charlie’s first black eye, courtesy of his little brother Colton. Well, Colton’s gone and done it again! This perpetrator has prior assault convictions resulting in bodily harm to his big brother. This time, Colton has given Charlie his first “goose egg.”

I was standing on our deck watching the boys playing when Colton, with freakishly accurate aim, drew back and fired off the gumball-sized rock that nailed Charlie right in the forehead. By the time I got to Charlie seconds later, the bump was at least half this size already. You should know that I have not done ANY enhancing on these photos. The one on the left is of the assailant after his conviction, and the one of the right is of the victim, showing off People’s exhibit A.

Markie and her mother Joyce mean a whole lot to me. They first came to me as a customer when I was getting out from working for other photographers and studios, and growing Reminisce. They’ve even given the biggest complement of all, by referring others to us. Wahoo!

Each time I’ve had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Miss Markie, their needs have been pretty specific… vertical head and shoulder business style pose, with her hat on. Well finally, I got the chance to take some different style photos of this young woman who is just as beautiful on the inside as the outside.
